    Default NHL Hockey Playoffs :D

Well there aren't too many of us here who are fans of the greatest sport on earth (did I ever mention that I was Canadian? ). There's Dalton, Euroblood and myself that I know of. Anybody else out there? You Philly lads? Æmeric? My fellow compatriots: Yggsvinr, Loyalist, Jason (VA), Dragon Rouge???? Reveal yourselves will ya?!

Anyway, it seems that Dalton's team, the Boston Bruins and my 'first love' team, the Montreal Canadiens (affectionately known as the "Habs"--short for "habitants", which roughly means "country dwellers/peasants") will be going head-to-head in the Eastern Conference.

The Bruins have had a terrific season while the Habs have had a pretty good beginnning but eventually fizzled at the end. It's pretty much expected that the Bruins will win this series...HOWEVER, one should NEVER EVER underestimate the legendary Habs

Here's the official play-off schedule so far:

    http://espn.go.com/nhl/playoffs/2009...y-cup-playoffs

It should be a good series and a good playoff season.

Dalton, I have to cheer for my team first dontcha know, but I'm also rooting for the Bruins too to some degree. May the better team win, Neighbour!

    Cheers for now!...Aemma

    Ex reporting for duty.

Finnish championship for this year may well be decided tomorrow.

No particular NHL team I support, though.

    Did somebody say...hockey?!

I think I detailed in a thread long ago the history of my love for hockey (that has more often than not been filled with heartbreak). Anyways, as much as I'd like to see the Sens (Edit, one day...obviously not today) win I think that there is not much a French Canadian can do these days but put their faith in the Habs.

HOWEVER, one should NEVER EVER underestimate the legendary Habs
Exactly, we must not forget how many times the Habs have gone head to head with the Bruins and consequently beat them to a pulp! So, I will religiously support them in this series and I hope they bloody well realise how much pressure is on them to bring home the Cup for their 100th anniversary

I'm actually not much of a sports fan and rarely ever watch it, but traditionally, since my family are Toronto dwellers, we root for the 'Leafs and support them whenever they play. btw, always took you for a Sens fan, Aemma.

Aemma--did you catch that crazy Bruins/Habs game last week? That was as much fighting as I've seen in a while.

And, oh-so typical that they're going to meet in the first round.

The Habs are to the Bruins what the New York Yankees once were for the Boston Red Sox in baseball. Meaning, an albatross around their collective necks. I feel confident though that this year, we will best our rivals from Mount Royale.

Just changed my avatar by the way.

Going all the way back to the late 1920s, Montreal has certainly dominated in head to head playoff meetings. But, not always:

Of course I'm a Sens fan Jason! But they didn't make the playoffs this year!!! Damn them all! So now I'm cheering for my 'first love' but second team, the Habs. If/once the Bruins manage to give them a good thrashing, then I'll be cheering for the Bruins.

But being a Habs fan of course, we NEVER say die!

No, not always but I'll take my chances with tradition

All this talk also reminds me that the Worlds are coming up soon, too!

I saw some of it...made Don Cherry proud I'm sure.

Yep it should be a good match up.

Ahh come on Ex...place a bet on the Habs for me will ya? Saku Koivu is one of your boys and is the captain of the Habs!

We've quite a number of great Finnish players in the NHL though. Got a favourite?

    Cheers Ex!...Aemma

I only watch hockey for the fights. And I don't care which team I root for so long as I get to beat up anyone from the opposing team.
