Default Galician-Portuguese influence in the Brazilian music

In Southern Brazil, we get a more Southern Portuguese influence, like this:

    Example of Southern Portuguese Music:

    Examples of Southern Brazilian Music:

In Northeastern Brazil, we get a more Northern Portuguese/Galician influence (although still influensed by Southern Portugal):

    Examples of Galician Music:

    Examples of Northeastern Brazilian Music:

I'd say that Brazilian music is around 75% Galician-Portuguese, in general, with some exceptions, like samba

But what do you guys think?

    Good Thread!

That music resembles me some Iberian medieval music and looks like the persons of the comment section agree

Is Fado popular in Brazil? My parents are from south portugal. I always hear people talk about how people from açores and north portugal went to Brazil but never about south portuguese, although I'd assume some went (my great grandfather did)

Not popular at all, the only popular ones are the ones shown in the OP + some more mixed brazilian slyles, like Samba and it's derivatives (Bossa Nova, Pagode, etc)

Fado didn't exist during the Colonial Brazil epoch. It is a posterior phenomena starting in Lisbon in the second half of 19th century in its precocious phase, and later spreading from there to the rest of the country mostly during the 20th century.
