Death toll of Capitalism?

One often hears of the ‘Communism death toll’, an enormous count of victims of Russia and China which were never Communist in the first place.

But how often do you hear of the Capitalism death toll? Never? I’ve searched and I’ve searched, but I can come across no reliable estimate of the total number of people killed directly by Capitalism.

So I decided to embark on a little, long-term project: to find the total number of people killed by capitalism directly. These sort of deaths include: starvation, violence for profit, slavery, refusal of healthcare, business health and safety negligence, pollution, basically any deaths that were brought about by a profit motive. While I can’t, of course, focus on every single death, I’ll rely on reliable estimates of specific events and causes of death.

In order to make this estimate reliable and useable in discussions or posts of your own, every number that goes into the estimate will be documented, with links to the source as well as screenshots of that source in case it is changed.

The point? To provide data for any one who needs it during a discussion, to provide an honest perspective of ‘Communist’ vs. Capitalist death tolls, and most importantly to honor the quiet victims of capitalism since our government does not see fit to honor them with a monument.

I think it's a worthwhile thing to do though, given that crapitalist liberal democrats have a free hand in saying their system is the best, pointing to huge 'death tolls' of other systems, while forgetting that america f.e. was built on the genocide of a continent.

I have no desire to defend capitalism, and I don't know why people who are otherwise conservative continue to do so. It is corrupt and rotten to the core. Far from defending and upholding Tradition and Morality, conservatives are only too quick to cooperate with capitalist interests contrary to their own founding principles. Look at the whole climate change business—it should not be a political issue but a scientific one; conservatives deny it because they'd rather curry favour with big oil companies and betray their principles of conservation.

Capitalism just leads to an overwhelming concentration of wealth, production, power to tiny segments of society, leading to the complete destruction of economic freedom and private property.

Capitalism has subordinated ethics, culture, morality, and religion to an insane lust for profit at any cost, and led to the treatment of the working classes as commodity and the social and human element of production as machine. It was the bourgeois class's capitalistic interests that was responsible for inciting rebellion against the aristocracy and the Industrial Revolution which led to thousands of deaths, and turned Britain into a smog and factory-ridden slum.

Given that the Industrial Revolution has expanded technology in ways that have led to greatly increased life expectancy and life saving devices, it is extremely myopic to dwell on its bad points. It was also industrial supremacy and railroads, made possible by the Industrial Revolution, which led to that 'Rule Britannia' you seem to value, in the 19th century.

This methodology is stupid. You can't treat 21st century superpower politics on the same level as 1700s slave trading. Greater specification is needed to define the economico-political system under consideration.

As it stands, 'capitalism' is made to look merely like the 'default' state of civilised humanity.
