Cool Hand Luke is one of my favorite films. Don't know about shaping my life. Films shaping the life of someone sounds a bit crazy.

    1. Scarface (this movie motivates me a lot in my career)

    2. Kontroll (maybe the most famous underground cult movie in Hungary, that's about a guy who is fighting his own demons and against a serial killer who lives in the subway or maybe he is this serial killer himself, thats not clearly)

    3. Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (reminds me a very long weekend in Wien when i had turned 18, i was there with my friend who is a little bit psycho, but i also like the hippie culture)

The Wages of Fear (La Salaire de la Peur)
    Waterloo Bridge
    The Seventh Seal
The Treasure of the Sierra Madre
    Lifeboat
    The Miracle of Morgan's Creek
    It's a Wonderful Life
    A Christmas Story
    Jeux Interdits (Forbidden Games)
    Vertigo
    Paths of Glory
    La Strada
    Alfie
    The Asphalt Jungle
The Bridge on the River Kwai
Out of the Past (the original)
    The Third Man
    Double Indemnity

LOTR, Frodo's relationship with the ring reminds me of sin. Also I admired Aragorn's character
AI Artificial Intelligence, the emotional experience was so intense I almost thought it was a dream from my childhood rather than a movie
    Scarface

So not necessarily favourite films but those that have left an impression afterwards?

Zulu (1964) - instilled patriotism from a young age and a fascination with that war and period
Birth of a Nation (1915) - instilled racial awareness and an alternate view of US history
The Shiralee (1987) - evokes a nostalgia and love for rural Australia for me

    Some others:

Planes, Trains and Automobiles - a beloved movie since childhood that I suppose influenced my humour, still quoting it regularly
Back to the Future - Still quoting it regularly
A Man for All Seasons (1966) - morally inspiring, or was when I saw it as a teenager
It's a Wonderful Life (1946) & Scrooge (1970) - Feel-good Christmas movies, always make you feel good to be alive and appreciative
    Spoiler!

    Fight club
    Reservoir Dogs
and most Clint Eastwood films because I was watching them with my father and then became addicted to westerns as he took me hunting when I was eight.
Fistfull of dollars - the good, the bad and the ugly, hang em high, the outlaw jose wales etc etc....
“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” Eph. 6:12

Definition of untrustworthy and loose character are those that don't believe in God.

I could easily type out two dozen films and fill my list with things like Fritz Lang's "Metropolis", Orson Wells' "Citizen Kane" and Wim Wender's "Wings of Desire".

Here are three that are a bit more personal.
Full disclosure, Cregger's "Barbarian" is the first movie in ages that I think is worth a damn.
I am not well at all...

polanski's "Repulsion"... The protagonist's slow and deliberate descent into madness... We are put in her head... the first definite hallucination doesn't occur until well into the film. By the end, the crazy is coming fast and furiously
    ..

Fassbinder's "Merchant of the four seasons" is a movie I saw in college in my 'intellectual" phase, It didn't strike me at the time as some of the other Fassbinder films did but it is the one I mentally return to the most.

My third is about politics that dives deeper than the surface nonsense of "left-wing" vs "right-wing"

There were political assassinations in the sixties. Things have got to be better now...right...right???]]

Robert Altman's "nashville"---Ronee Blakely wrote her own damn songs for this movie. She was discovered by Bob Dylan... and was even mariired to Wim Wenders for a bit...
