I recently put my Ancestry RAW data to Yseq and Morleys tool and got R1a-CTS1211.I talked a bit about the vailidity of Yseqs results with a member and even Feichy and got told that on the macro level i cannot but be some sort of R1a.On the other hand i wouldnt mind having a test to double check it and since its still black friday there are some cheap options.Living DNA at 55 euros will test 23000 Y and 5000 mt SNPs and give me a good aproximation.Y37 of FTDNA sits closer to 80 euros and will maybe give me a Y haplogroup ? Why i say maybe ? Because from some research ive done FT uses Y STRs on low level tests while Y SNPs are whats needed to get a good haplo prediction. From my research SNPs answer genetic question especially ones from very old times while STRs answer geneology questions but also genetic ones of max 2000-3000 (when theyre used solely on their own without SNPs) ?.Now doing low level Y tests on FTDNA from multiple websites that i searched seems to not be worth it and most opt for BIG Ys.If i had the money i would a big Y for some extra fun but now its not the time.FTDNA also has the biggest Y database there is so i guess i would get more detailed results (not that i care for very specific answers at this point).Living DNA also gives you your mt haplo while FT charges you extra. The only complains ive heard from LDNA testers is that their haplo is very general but to be honest thats what i mostly care for. With so many markers putting my RAW data on Y seq will give me an even cleaner picture.
So did i get the STR SNP part correctly ? Should if i end up taking an extra test choose FTDNA or LDNA ?
Finaly is Y dnas importance overestimated ? Ive read some people argue that it could influence skull shape and other stuff and although its a fraction of the DNA it influences a big part of it.Whats your take ?

I pulled the trigger on livingDNA.After a lot of research ive decided thats the best choice and if you ever think of FTDNA go straight for a BIG Y since lower level tests aint gonna give any important info and its more like throwing a dice and wishing you get a good number when it comes to matches.Im saying this for anyone that may end in a similar position and finds this post

I did both YElite and BigY500, both are good.

I have the 23andMe raw and FTDNA Raw
Should buy the Y-seq E SuperPanel or the FTDNA BigY?
