Default ¿Do you find modern christian art blasphemous?

The Inquisition once had a division whose job it was to examine religious art because not all pieces of art were seen to be accurate depictions of biblical figures.

Many passionate freelancers are producing their own devotional artworks in line with the current pop aesthetics, but is the Disney aesthetics appropriate for religious art?

Users more inclined to Christianity will have better opinions, but I believe anything that doesn't depict Jesus and Christian symbols in a heretical way is acceptable. Drawing Jesus or the Virgin Mary as a manga is a lot better than building a church with horrible brutalist modern architecture. If you take a look at a lot of non-traditionalist Catholic Churches nowadays (please, don't confuse it with woke LGBT supporting churches, simply those who follow most post-1960's reform), you'll see that they won't depict Christ and the Saints like Roman-style statues or eastern icons.

According to oral family tradition E-FT155550 comes from a deserter of Napoleon's troops (1808-1813) who stayed in Spain and changed his surname.

It looks a bit meaningless, because it depicts non-existant situation (when Jesus plays football with kids) for unknown purpose (as we would barely pray to Jesus depicted as football player, as we wanna do His icon, painted in canonical way). I just dunno why some Catholics would paint such nonsense, what's the purpose It's a kind of profanation in attempt to depict what and who is holy in a popular way.

Canonical depiction of the Holy Trinity, Jesus Christ, prophets, apostles and the saints is not an art, it's a kind of window to their World, just like church singing is not a kind of some music. It's God-inspired and has a sort of utilitarian purpose. Massive mixing of holy and earthly occured during the rennaisance era and it's still not separated in a mind of masses.

Well it's Brazil . Grandpa said he used to play football and do sports with priests as a teenager too, back when Brazil was actually Catholic.

But I think this shows how this "Charismatic" branch of Roman Catholicism has been doing pretty badly. This painting became a joke when we were teenagers. In the school, the missionaries tried to strengthen our faith (not really catechize as the great majority there was already baptized and later chrismated) through playtime. But the problem is that the play was unrelated to Christ, and whatever they told us would be forgotten once we were there doing what we felt like doing.

Even though I've met amazing teachers and monks (not really monks but it's the closest translation, they were religious men dedicated to education and did chastity and obedience vows), that place was a factory for atheists and lukewarm Christians. People look for tradition and authority when they look for a Roman, Eastern or Oriental Church, but they tried to dumb it all down for kids to "understand", like the protestants, and obviously never touched subjects that could lead to division. I actually saw a lot of tolerance for stuff like homosexual and feminist activism, even in openly Catholic teachers.

Also my criticism of most Catholic missionaries is that they talk too much about "what-s" and too little about "why-s", while the Protestants did the opposite. I'm yet to see a drunk, a drug user, a depressed man "saved" by the Catholics of my town, while the backyard churches with pastors that studied three months are doing it.
