    Also, the fact that Ashkenazim and Sicilians often cluster close together doesn't mean the latter have direct ancestry from the former. Rather, they have a similar mixture of European and West Asian components much of the time.

    Italians received most of their East Med from Greek Islanders and Greek Anatolians, but they also received some Syrian and Jewish blood. I wish I knew the exact numbers, but there is much more East Med in the South of Italy than the other regions.
