This concerns the Balkans more, but rest of Eastern Europe is not that different:

That kind of millennial is hard to find in EE outside towns with large student populations.

In the sense that the State would guarantee healthcare, education, housing and food (all of varying quality), yes.

For Americans that is communism, in Western Europe all of this are normal. Social market economy is a fundamental part of German state philosophy, since Bismarck to its architect Erhard. Since Kohls disastrous social policy in parallel with Thatchers reforms in UK plus his wrong unification policy, our social problems became worse every year until today.

Neither socialist nor aggressive capitalist systems are good.

Not as if people nowadays are eating anything better than a ration of bread, vegetables, eggs and sausage lol. Most capitalist variety is just different forms of eating seed oils, high fructose corn syrup and flour.

Not saying there was pristine quality control of food in eastern europe, I think it's the opposite and only users that lived in commie times can tell us, but I find it funny how a lot of anti-commie arguments use the "freedom" to become an impersonation of Nikocado Avocado as something good. Also I wonder if there was agenda pushing for veganism and bug eating back in the day.

With slight adaptations this meme fits in South America

You know a country is fucked up if millennial student mindset exists outside of academia
