In short, the most individualistic and non-family oriented cultures (the Anglo world) produce the most liberal and individualistic politics. Not so surprising.

    Interesting video.

When looking at my own ancestry, I have noticed that they have always been more "western-oriented" compared to what is average/typical of the Balkans. The traditionalists would want that type of system that is said in the video to be the most common in eastern Europe and Russia. But my family always thought it was backwards, because they thought it was in the way of people developing as persons, in the sense that someone in the family controlled what they did, and they were supposed to do all the work (especially the women), although I've never heard of more than 2-3 generations living in the same household (children, parents, grandparents). But like I said, it was viewed as a structure that keeps the individual from developing. The women who lived in such conditions usually married early, like in the early 20s, and had no education except for high school, which made them dependent on someone else in the household. I think this typical mentality of the Balkans is what keeps them from developing.

On the other hand, those who paid for their kids to get a graduate degree, didn't get married until they were able to have a stable income. They would also have a higher income compared to average of the population. I believe this is why they were in favor of the Tito regime, which gave opportunities in some areas, that were similar to that found in capitalist countries.

At some point, if you want to develop, you have to let go of the people who are holding you back. Therefore, I don't really care if I'm being "westernized" or whatever, since this is inevitable. On top of this, I do have relatives in the US and they seem to be living well.

So I would pick Liberal Capitalism.

As for Sweden, I believe the problem isn't really opportunity, since Sweden does have lots of universities etc., but rather the lack of motivation from parents, friend etc.
You are supposed to be "lagom", in other words in the middle, average. This in turn also lowers expectations of your fellow citizen, by them not doing more so long as they are doing enough. In this sense it is understandable why many swedes have become more against immigration, since they were taking on more work than they were willing to do. But they didn't realize that until later.
