I don't think ethnicity plays much of a role. For instance, Maronites, Armenians, Yazidis and Antiochian Christians are very peaceful from what I can see. Same goes for various Middle Eastern Jewish groups. But about the part where Muslims oppressed Christians, that was an Arab/Turk thing. Religion plays a large role in behavior.

Well, it could also be that people who don't wish to do harm want to associate themselves with others who have a similar mindset. But as far as I know, those populations aren't that big either, so they are easier to oppress (for an outsider).

No. I'm saying that people would associate themselves with other people who are more empathic. I wasn't thinking about one converting. They could've gotten married into a religion etc., or been irreligious from the beginning and perhaps picked the religion of their friends and family and so on.

Yes, those were real tragedies. Still, do you feel so strongly about the Holocaust, or the genocide of the Tasman Islanders?

Assyrian genocide is more impactful for me, because my great-grandparents were affected by it. The Holocaust was extremely terrible and inexcusable act of violence. But I'm not sure why we're comparing genocides of other peoples now.
