They are Australian in different ways. Aborigines are racially Australian (Australoid), but Anglo-Celtic Australians are the ethnic Australians, i.e Aussies; the group that is likely to identify as Australian on a census, and the group whose culture everybody associates with the country. Aborigines are always referred to as Aboriginal or Indigenous, never just Australian, they want to be differentiated and are.

And the founding stock are very much Anglo-Celtic, not just English, there were plenty of Irish and Scottish from the beginning of the colony, and they're practically all mixed now.

If we go back further the White Australians were initially fully Dutch, which is German in a wider sense :

"Loos and a cabin boy, Jan Pelgrom de Bye, who were considered only minor offenders, were marooned on mainland Australia, and were never heard of again. This made them the first Europeans to have permanently lived on the Australian continent.[22]"

If so, all of Europe can be considered German in a wider sense which is meaningless.

Well the oldest existing building in Australia comes from the survivors of that wreck:

English Australians because they created modern Australia.

Australian aboriginals are the original population of today's Australia, of course.

    Absolutely, lol!

Is this Teutonic constructive highscore on an island or related to the two marooned guys on the mainland?

And btw., as you can see we kind of started with the idea of a penal transportation in regard to Australia.

    It's on an island.

The oldest surviving building on the mainland is this cottage in Sydney, built 5 years after the establishment of New South Wales (when the continent was still called New Holland).

As Creoda was explaining you need to include the Celtic part of Australia. Ned Kelly would not be an English-Australian and he is possibly the most famous and iconic Australian character in history.
