Default Do you smile/make eye contact while walking down the street?

I noticed that I tend to form positive opinions about random strangers that smile a lot, even though I myself have been told that I look quite angry while walking down the street.

When I'm walking I'm usually thinking about something, so I just have a very blank expression. Well, unless I'm really happy - then I smile at everyone. Where I live, it's totally normal. People are friendly and warm, and generally don't even respect personal space. Now that can be a bit annoying.

In a town where everyone avoids eye contact, I do too. In a town where they don't, I look at people and smile.

I may make eye contact at random, but I do not smile.

Smiling at strangers while you're walking is just weird, at least where I come from.

People in all cultures smile at times; however, the meaning of a smile may vary and here it might be perceived as insincere or being artificially nice.

I will smile if I see something I like, but not at someone I don't know.

It's normal here to smile and sometimes say hello to strangers you pass in the street. It's just polite, I think.

I only smile when I see someone I'm really happy to see. Otherwise I have a neutral expression. I only make eye contact when someone speaks to me or ask for something. Talking to someone without looking at him directly is just weird.

I don't smile or make eye contact. The eye contact might happen in the train or elevator but that would be because i don't have anywhere else to look.

Smiling at strangers only in very specific cases, like we both going the same way when we were both getting out of each other's way.
