Classify Joe Manganiello - American actor with mixed-race ancestry

From Pennsylvania, He recently found out that his paternal grandfather was a mixed-race African-American man with Irish ancestry. The rest of his paternal ancestry includes Italian roots, though "Manganiello" was a stepfathers surname. His maternal grandmother was half-German and half-Armenian and his maternal grandfather was Croatian.

He once stated that while filming a project in Germany, many of the locals thought he was German. Could he pass in Germany? I think your average American would guess Italian/Southern European though.

I honestly thought he was the stereotypical Italian-American, but a lot of Americans/New Worlders are mutts.

yes he looks very italian but you asked also if he can pass in germany. and i think that maybe he can a bit atypical but yes maybe in the south.

Interesting that he has Croatian and German ancestry, because he somehow resembles Australian actor Eric Bana, who is purely of German and Croatian descent. In some angles, he reminds me of Ricky Martin.

I would classify Manganiello as a Dinaro-Med. He definitely passes as an Italian.
