    I was just thinking about what these would be if they were more anglicized. Perhaps, Unitarian and Unitarians. Totally different connotation. Probably best to stick with Unido, Unidoes as you've suggested.

    Not every language knows as as 'Americans' as can be seen in previous comments. In my opinion it's just a fun exercise, but in a practical sense alternatives to 'American' tend to be less U.S. centric. For instance, the Germans call us US-Americans. This term is more specific and I'd contest, more practical because it distinguished those from the U.S. and those from the Americas.

    We can sometimes hear "états-uniens", but it's more to designate things than people.
