There's huge % of Russians who are not poor, but not interested in going abroad or even out of their region. Like living in Novosibirsk or Ekaterinburg whole of their life. Really, I'm not interested aswell in going to other parts of Russia, even tho there's enough to see if you're a travel addict. Most of my Russian interior trips are related to away football matches in 2002-2014 period, but I see no interest to go anywhere just for travelling. I've been to some European states also related to football, but I'm really only interested in Balkan region where I can go with no reason (not for museums or excursions, but for meeting friends and enjoying it). When I'm bored I may go to neighbouring regions by rapid train for a one day trip, but I get easily bored by long trips. I don't remember when I went to the seaside on purpose, it's annoying to me to come somewhere for a week or so and then leave. I used to go to the Adriatic sea of the neighbouring countries for weeks when I lived in Serbia, so i stayed for a longer period, not a schizoid rapid vacations. Also, I made one, maximum two days trips to Bosnia and other countries. Same as I went to Transnistria and Moldavia during my Odessa period. I'm fully adaptable to most of states and mentalities, just I don't like useless and long trips and often change of the living place.
The only two states I'd like to visit atm are Argentina and Uruguay in a way of 2-3 months stay. Visa rules are easy (no visas and opportunities to stay for a longer period with a special tourist visa which is gained after coming there) and I can assign some money to stay there with no worries.
We're similar to Americans in this part of mentality. Also, there's enough of interior tourism, often more expensive than going somewhere abroad, but there's exact % of people who prefer it.
I'm a bit sceptic towards compuslive travellers, I know some who have some idea-fix to visit as much states as possible, in fact not becoming tied to any of them, like collecting achievements.
I've noticed same people were the biggest compulsive beer drinkers during the hipster craft beer boom. Those people had some idea fix in trying as much types of beer as possible and considered to be a "mauvaix tone" to be a plebean two-type of lagers drinker![]()

This type of Russians usually go to Turkey, that's our ultraplebean/proletarian destination, because it's cheaper than Russian seaside and has significant all-inclusive optionsThere are decent places in Turkey and normal people usually ask "gimme a location without all-inclusive Russian tours"
English "Turkey" is Cyprus.

1) Americans do travel abroad
2) USA is a large country in which every region can offer something different relative to a vacation. As an example during the hot midwest summer many people vacation in cooler Northern Michigan which is loaded with inland lakes, Great Lakes and a gazillion golf courses.
Or if you want to Snow Ski head west to the Mountains. Or Campgrounds,
In 2021, more than 93.8 million North American households considered themselves campers.
Camping accounted for 40% of all leisure trips taken in 2021 with more than half of travelers (53%) including camping in some or all of their travel.

If you drive around the USA there are RVs Recreational Vehicles everywhere.
Relative to travel abroad,
Here are the most common destinations pre covid.
