Earthquakes of 7.5-8 are not uncommon here, the worst part of such big earthquakes is that they last from one to several minutes, and can cause plenty of damage and high casualties between people.

    This one wasn't an exception.

7.5-8? That's extreme. I would never guess Moldova could be hit with such monster eartquake, I tought eastern Europe was safe until recently learning about it.
For Turkey and Med region unfortunately it's known.

In my area expected max is 6.5 as Nixie said.

I live 200 km from Vrancea area where all these big earthquakes occur, some can affect more south Romania, but other ones can affect north-east Romania including RM. For example 1940 7.4 earthquake affected very much Moldova, but 1977 7.5 earthquake was more destructive in south Romania.

Speaking of Vrancea. There was an earthquake yesterday night in that region 03:26 AM local time, a few minutes after the one in Turkey. It had a magnitude of 4.6 and was followed by four smaller aftershocks.
Apart from destruction of the cities from the shock waves, it would be very dangerous to have tsunami in the Black Sea caused by a strong earthquake in the region; as there are big deposits of hydrogen and sulfuric acid in it.

Vrancea earthquakes can't cause a tsunami. Most tsunamis are generated by undersea earthquakes near subduction zones. A tsunami in the Black Sea could be generated by undersea landslides caused by these earthquakes from Vrancea. And these tsunamis will be relativelly small, except beach areas, some strong effects will not have.

Indeed. One of the most powerful earthquakes in the Black Sea was recorded in 1901 had a magnitude of 7.2 and the tsunami waves were 4-5 meters high. And the epicenter was in the east of Cape Kaliakra https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1901_Black_Sea_earthquake

The Shabla fault in the Black Sea seems to be seismically active.

Why the countries of southern Europe do not make anti-seismic buildings?, an strong earthquake and deaths can be thousands.

Well, it seems that it can, apparently in Italy there is already a tsunami alert.
