Yes, more aware then 99.% of people in the world about this specific location.

Simple, it is a powerful UAF stronghold, they went gorilla warfare against Russian troops that were trying to take it this week, super easy to defend, so what the ruskies then did is to bi-pass it (for now). It's an insignificant stronghold if we were to compare it to the bigger ones such as Bakhmut (which is about to fall). They will come for it sometime later.

What would be a "Russian victory" anyway? To full control of Ukraine? Integrate the eastern provinces of Ukraine (and Crimea) into Russian state? To put a puppet Russian government back in Kyiv?

Try to return to the status quo prior to the fall of the Soviet Union by re-establishing Russian influence throughout Eastern Europe?

All this is not a nightmare for the West, it is a nightmare for anyone with brain.

Goal 1 - most basic one
Goal 2 (blue) - Most basic goal plus capture Odessa and link up too Transnistria.
Goal 3 (brown) - all of the above, plus capture all of eastern Ukraine all the way to the Dniper river, to create a powerful line of defense against NATO.

But only God and the Kremlin knows the real outcome/ plans. There are so many factor.

I hope Western Europeans are ready to accept millions of Ukrainian refugees..the average citizen of Ukraine is anti-Russian and a Nazi .. Russia is not interested in keeping them under its control .. then let the Europeans accept them on their territory
