In my family potato was and is a must have in your plate, my grandparents actually would farm them. It's quite amazing how the discovering of the new world impacted so much European cuisine, in this case by the Spaniards who in the 16th century introduced the aliment to Europe.

How come Moldova is so drastically lower than its 2 direct neighbours?
Don't tell me because they are poor, potato is probably the cheapest food on the market

I baked some sweet potatoes today. Should have cooked them a little longer than I did. I put olive oil, salt, and hot sauce on them.

Surprised Denmark's was so low, but rugbrųd and mash can be overkill, so I get it. All in moderation. Portugal's pretty damned high, 65. Much peeps. Knew there was a reason I liked them. Truthfully, there's many.

What surprises me most in this statistics is the contrast with Spain, these graphs always show Portugal consuming more potatoes on average, more rice, more pasta, more vegetables, more fruit, more fish, more seafood and more alcohol than Spain. Meat is more or less at the same level, Spain slightly ahead. Makes me wonder what are our neighbors eating. And no, we are not more obese
