I think these fashion designers are just a bunch of freeloaders who take LSD sometimes.

Seems to be some metaphor for what is going on in Ukraine: "The set of this show is a metaphor for digging for truth and being down to earth," Demna said. "Let us let everyone be anyone and make love not war."

I think there is a misunderstanding with fashion shows. In many it's about creation and inspiration, not clothes people are envisioned to wear anytime soon, at least not in most of the collections. Like concept cars in automobile shows, and maybe not even that.

For example what Rick Owens shows on runways is usually very odd, yet he makes really high quality clothes (made in Europe, as opposed to China like everything else) that he actually sells, once those designs are tailored down to humanly relatable fabrics, and still also sell the odd pieces if you fancy that but this is two different markets.

Only some idiots like Lewis Hamilton or Sam Smith think it's cool to wear runway pieces.

With that said Balenciaga is really the bottom of the pile, it's still a mystery how they got into this segment. Of course the overpriced trashbag is a marketing stunt but we may or may not see this sort of design vaguely copied mainstream, which is how haute couture ideas trickle down in the industry.

Yeah, nobody is actually buying or wearing this stuff. It's just for the runway exhibition.

It's easy to lump this in with the "they're making us eat bugs" brand of elite dehumanization, but high-fashion folks tend to be very cognizant of those trends in elite scumbaggery, and this looks like a parody of that. Designers excel in that dual-language of simultaneuously appealing to the zeitgeist and shaming it.

I think one great example of that was McQueen. He could do anything from classy to futuristic, edgy, silly and even sexy (above crime in the fashion industry). That made critics very mad as it was obvious he was often making fun of them with things like this:

On the other hand that would be entirely mainstream and wearable nowadays (even back then really), without the talented tailoring and detailing of course, but this is the thing we might not realize, how much what everydoby is wearing regularly nowadays came from runways one way or another, it just gets so filtered down and delayed.

Except straight cuts in your jeans at both knee's levels. That came from a deeper trash than Balienciaga's last decor.
