EU elites want Turkey to join their club so the will of the people does not matter.

Why are you asking this? Did Erdogan's opponent for the '23 election say he wants Turkey to join EU?Originally Posted by Hektor

Of course I am a bit sceptic, because such a big country can have also negative effects on EU, but as I wrote some recent EU countries were more questionable as to the administrative capabilities before joining the EU. Everyone were infatuated after the collapse of CCCP and common sense was somehow lost for a while. Someone even believed that Russia will join Nato and everyone would be as hilarious family members smiling decades . Instead of this weird history we know the Turkey.

This is a scenario that will never materialize and it's understandable to anyone with an ounce of knowledge of history and geopolitics.
Turkey in the EU = re-unification of the epicenter of the Intermediate Region, the one that the West has been tirelessly trying to break apart since the 4th Crusade.

Also as EU member Turkey could never ever get rid of the refugees no matter the will of government/people.
