    Default 23&Me New Genetic Communities

I've just seen that 23&Me are now doing GCs. There aren't as good as Ancestry because this is what I've got.

This is the only GC I've got. Only for the Northern part of Ireland. It does include Sligo and northern part of Connacht which is my paternal ancestry. There is nothing for my maternal side which they have a GC for called Central and Southern Ireland. They might possibly improve in the future and be more fine detailed like Ancestry.

Has anyone else got a Genetic Community at 23&Me?

If you have does it match your ancestry?

My Heritage is not that accurate. I have a cousin who has a Finnish GC on MyHeritage. Ancestry are much better with their Genetic Groups so I'd say there is more a chance of an English GC being picked up using Ancestry. They have more GCs and are better at detecting them.

23&Me have also got GCs for Spain and Portugal.

These are the GCs for British & Irish on 23&Me.

Ancestry have a huge amount of GCs and they are accurate. 23&Me are a bit broad but they haven't done this before so I'm sure they will improve and add more later.

I don't think FTDNA are too bothered about the autosomal testing as most of their bread and butter is geared towards ydna testing. MyHeritage very rarely update. They have never updated their Ancestry Composition since they started and the GCs are not really refined.

The best for updates and GCs are Ancestry. 23&Me are very accurate with their Ancestry Comp but behind in the other areas. 23&Me only updated on the later chip so people that have tested on the earlier chips are not getting any updates. Ancestry updates everyone no matter when they tested. So I personally would go with Ancestry.

Mine is still the same as always. I see no genetic communities but i see the country matches, they have been there since always. They are not new.

I think that is an excellent way to go. Test older relatives while you still can. You are so fortunate to still have your Grandparents and Great Grandparents. Both my grandfathers died years before I was born and I mean years as in decades. My paternal Grandfather was 64 when my father was born and died when my father was 17 and my mother's father also died when she was 17. Well before I existed. So definitely get some older relatives tested as it will definitely help you reach further back into your ancestry.

They seem to be rolling them out a bit at a time so I'm sure you will get a GC and hopefully don't have to wait too long. Are you on the later chip?
