Yeah, he does look Amerindian.
He could easily pass as a Brazilian from Pará or other Northern state.
Not sure how to classify him, too old for it.

I know this peruvian/brazilian look, but it's just that they're the ones that look East Asian (particularly indonesian) rather than vice versa. So from my perception I'd see these native brazilians rather as "east asian looking". Btw the japanese guy looked more southeast asian...Amerindians from amazon are more Mongolized than Amerindians from Mexico

He looks Malay/Indonesian, which is perfectly plausible if he's from Ryukyu islands bordering Taiwan (homeland of Austronesian). Extremely typical Filipino...
