Symbols for ethnicities

In this thread please present what you consider a symbol for a particular ethnicity that is not contained in the official flag of a state in that context.

The German people has experienced a number of political changes throughout history and unfortunately there has never established an accepted-by-all flag, so the question of a symbol for Germans by that conditions even gains some importance. I can present two symols that have developed in some way to represent Germanhood. One thing is oak leaves with acorns. I don't know why exactly, but this are symbols that have been considered unpolitical and representative and they were used (f. i. on money, especially coins) in the German Empire as a monarchy, the Weimar republic, the Thrid Reich, the communistic GDR as well as in the FRG till this very day. Just check the smallest euro coins issued by the FRG. So I connect this to Germanhood per se. There is no fixed form for this so the following symbol is just one possibility out of thousands, but nevertheless representaive:



Please note that even the most loved by me German coin, the 50 Pfennig coin of the D-Mark currency shows a German woman that after the destruction of the war is planting - guess what - a new oak tree.



Another thing is the Iron Cross or - likely more correct - the Maltese Cross. Also here I'm not sure why it has developed as a symbol that is perceived to be conntected to Germanhood, but I think this is also internationally not much disputed, while I can imagine that the oak leaves with acorns thing is less aware to non-Germans. But I'm curious for opinions.
