If there are cultural differences - and there is no bigger cultural difference than religion - either you or the partner has to give in to the other's cultural norms, or it won't work in the long run. It'll be made most apparent when there are children. That's the only way these types of relationships work.

The sign is already there that more problems will arise if he gets upset over a piece of Christian art, which shouldn't even be a big deal to someone who doesn't care about being Muslim.

That's why I'm so grateful for my choice to be a traditional woman. It's much easier to sit down and say "yes honey", and it spares him from me bitching and begging to have my way. I agree that people with two different religions, especially if they are religious, will most probably face with conflicts. That doesn’t mean that a relationship isn’t possible or can’t work. But both should be able to get over their ignorance, if this isn’t possible then both should talk and think about their relationship.

I also have Turkish roots and I know that cultural barriers can be annoying, by the way this counts for Turks and Non-Turks. Once people like each other, they start to evolve tolerance and acceptance, besides I fast during Ramadan or don’t eat pig, my non-Turkish friends never noticed something different. Your Turkish partner should be able to understand you too, personally I never would date an ignorant Turk. Life isn’t a one way street. It is true that often one side accepts the religion of the other side, but I also see a lot of people who have Turkush partners and they kept their own identity, it isn’t impossible but I think you need the right partner.

That's one thing that my parents forgot to tell me and that I will tell my possible kids when they reach the right age: When you date, you are in a relationship not only with the girl but with her entire family. And in some cases that is the complicated part.

As a girl with no mom, it's not worth it )~: I'd imagine that dealing with a bitchy MIL is easier than trying to love a woman who has no idea how to be a woman
