Very honest point, colonialism was a result of wealth rather than the vice versa, one fine example is how Japan accumulated for 2 millania the cultural legacies and artefacts from China and other nearby civilzations in their imperial secret vaults. Except for Knight Templar`s secret golds, Vatican Vaults anybody? Richness in cultural and economic upbringing strengthens a civilization against superstition and corruption, this is the true sense of wealth only when the two ideas of wealth combined, but commies misled people to believe the matter is always about the material wealth while ignoring the cultural foundation in which the most desperate poverty people can never simply catch up by economic developments.

As far as what precisely? What i noticed and instantly caught me from what ive seen of Eastern Europe, was the significantly less developped infrastructures out of big cities. Countrysides of Western Europe can also look "poor" and sometimes it actually is but you feel some of the overall wealth is used there on regular basis, there is clearly more budget to be thrown around for nice roads, public services, maintenance etc...and you see less concentrations of small businesses and manufacture structures. The big city centers don't feel that different in the East, maybe only the same versions of them than in the West a few decades ago, so i feel it's either downplayed or exaggerated altogether.

Like I said, the myth (or perhaps half-truth) that Eastern Europe is poorer that Western Europe mostly if not entirely due to Communism, when in fact the disparity between the two precedes Lenin by centuries.

I don't disagree with that, you can trace it as far back as medieval Europe in the most eastern parts of Europe with their lack of early univerisites or even cathedral schools, although that could apply to Scandinavia as well but the the difference is they eventually caught up faster. I believe Communism did hurt the westernmost countries of the central-east like Hungary and the direct vicinity, the rest i don't think it changed much of their course in history as far as recent times.

In short, rather than colonialism making the West wealthy, it was the West's wealth that enabled it to colonise (for good and for ill) on an unprecedented scale (although the Islamic world did come close to such a scale - think Arabs and Ottomans). Furthermore, it wasn't Communism that made Eastern Europe poorer, but Eastern Europe's poverty in many respects led to Communism as a way of (temporarily at least) making society more equal and speeding up their industrial development by removing their economies from having to compete with Western imports.

Well yes, the IMF, WTO, World Bank and indeed the UN itself (especially the Security Council) are still all Western-dominated.
