1. Spain or Portugal

I really like both countries with sympathy leaning towards Portugal. It has quiet romance and modesty while Spain/Spaniards is more "sunny" and extraverted. I really like Portuguese arhipelagos and country is really pretty, rather green for a southern European land with amazing architecture. Spain is bigger and thus more diverse though. I prefer Portugal overall, but there are parts of Spain where I'd live rather than anywhere in Portugal (Valencia, Andalusia) and due to that I chose Spain.

Portugal has cold Atlantic instead of Med sea and due to that I chose Spain as well.

2. Italy or Greece

Going with gut feeling and picking Greece. I know most of Italy and never been to Greece, but Greece is even more Med/southern than Italy. I'd like to explore my Greek heritage too. Italy is amazing but I never felt wish to live there.

3. Ireland or England

Been to both, would pick England without much thinking.

4. France or Germany

Germany, easy choice. France is (in every aspect) very alien to me, while I feel pretty at home in Germany. I happen to have ancestry from both countries, even if my "French" part is in fact German (Alsatian).

5. Sweden or Norway

Norway. More spectacular landscapes (notably worse weather than Sweden tho, which is a minus) and probably more likable people (I know people who lived in both countries).

6. Finland or Hungary

Of course Hungary, I don't think I need to explain why. I really like Finland though and find it appealing, it would be my northern European country of choice.

7. Russia or Poland

Hard choice. I'm more drawn towards Russia, but Poland is culturally closer. I can't connect to Poland somehow though, so I'd pick Russia, a vast Slavic megacountry like no other.
I should still pick Poland, considering state of Russia right now, but somehow Poland and me never clicked. Russia, I guess. I need to visit both tho for real insight.

8. Romania or Bulgaria

Another hard choice. Both are interesting. Pretty neutral on both. I'd maybe give Bulgaria a chance first, they are Slavic and I heard their black sea coast is nicer than Romanian. I feel Bulgaria is pretty underrated country with lots to see and do.

So Bulgaria, but it's close.

9. Serbia or Croatia

Croatia.

10. Austria or Switzerland

Austria, it's more culturally similar while Switzerland is very foreign. I would pick southern or eastern Austria for sure. I'm not attracted to either though, both have far too many mountains for my liking.

11. Czech Rep. or Slovakia

Czechia, but mainly because Slovakia has many mountains and I dislike mountains. Czechia has more exciting cities too. Slovakia is nice though and I prefer Slovak people/mentality rather than Czech. So Czechia but by a close margin.
