Default New Brazil study 2023 with 1599 sample

The study was conducted with people using SUS, the Brazilian public healthcare system, so probably is a good representation of the country's lower middle class and below.

    https://www.mdpi.com/2073-4425/14/5/991

In this analysis, there was a higher average percentage of European ancestry (64.2 ± 21.6, ranging from 2.3% to 99.2%), followed by African (21.0 ± 17.4, ranging from 0.2 to 88.7) and Native American (14.8 ± 11.9, ranging from 0.4 to 69.5). Distribution of ordinal categories showed that 74.8% of patients had more than 50% of European ancestry, while only 7.1% and 0.8% had more than 50% African and Native American ancestry, respectively.

I always imagined South America as a whole more native than SSA, but Brazil at least contradicts that.

Brazil is different from most of the other countries in that respect. Most of mainland Latin America - be it Mexico, Central America, the Andes or the Southern Cone - is definitely more native than SSA.

Brazil is a exception to the rule.

What about a country like Venezuela in your opinion? When i see those pics they look heavily Amerindian but apparently they also have similar SSA than Brazil yet they don't look as much African influenced than Brazil.

Very hard to find even one passing remotely anywhere in Europe, besides the first row girl 2nd from the right who looks out of place.

1- Never believe in race studies done by the Brazilian government, they (and most of the idiotic population) have a very distinct and bizarre interpretation of what Race and Ethnicity really means.

2- Understand that Brazil is Continental-Country, similar to India or Russia. So, the CENSUS must be done BY REGION, or even, by Sub-Regions, otherwise it will not be a factual representation of reality.

3- There is very little Black People in Brazil as a whole, but at the same time, there is a majority of black people in some places, as example, in the state of Bahia, 95% of the population are Black or Half Black. The same goes for White people, there is NO WHITE MAN whatsoever in the Northeast, North and Central-West. In the Southeast there are SOME whites, mostly composed of 10% of the population, that said, in the South only, 98% of the native population are of white descent. Mostly a mix of North Italians, Germanics and Slavic people. Of course, today, in result of mass migration, that is changing very quickly.

4- European immigration to Brazil was VERY different of that of the USA, Canada or Mexico. The Europeans (mostly North Italians and Germans) were brought to the continent as COLONIZERS, not mere Immigrants... They built their cities from ZERO. And that is why Hunsrückisch and Lengua-Veneta are still official languages of Southern-Brazil.

This study helps us understand certain genetic markers and how they are related to ancestral origins in a particular group of people from Brazil. However, it may not give us a complete understanding of Brazilian ancestry as a whole.

To get a more complete picture of Brazilian ancestry, it's recommended to look at various sources, including studies that explore population genetics.. It's also important to consider studies that cover a wider range of Brazilian populations from different regions and ethnic backgrounds.
