I'm leaning towards being more for it than i used to, under certain conditions, some previously cited. Above all, that the patient expresses both psychosomatic elements of suffering, in a terminal context. Paliative cares mostly treats the physical end hoping in a way that the mind would let go as well naturally, sometimes it isn't enough and the body keeps on resisting it. This should be the only case where euthanasia is permitted, and agreed.

I am for euthanasia of terminally ill patients who have no hope, only suffering and consciously decide to undergo this procedure.
I guess this should be consulted with doctors and family members and all parties have to agree.
Modern medicine has a lot of tools to prolong the life in case of terminal diseases but very rarely if ever can cure such patients.
Of course killing elderly, terminally ill people on purpose without their consent is not an euthanasia but just a murder.

But if it will ever work in Russia, it won't be very soon.
Here, if a person decides to do euthanasia, first representatives of banks and collectors agencies will visit him, and then representatives of public utilities, in order to search for debt. Then the person will be surrounded by relatives with a war for the redistribution of inheritance.
If a person does not solve all his problems in advance, then no one will allow him to die easily here.

Euthanasia is a phenomenally complex topic.

I went into my euthanasia research paper 100% in favour of, but as I started unravelling the threads I've become more careful.

There are a number of arguments both for and against euthanasia. The most compelling for me (against its implementation) is that of the slippery slope. What is the nature of the beast we are unleashing here? What are the societal implications? Once the machine is set in motion it is difficult to turn back time.

The nature of the slippery slope is already evident in the Benelux countries. At first it was approved in cases of physical suffering. That was extended to emotional suffering. At first it was only for adults (18+) but now it already extends to under 12's and even children below that age if they can express a wish to die. (What child of 7 can express a wish to die, when the concept of what death is hasn't crystallised at this age yet? This is a can of worms in itself).

I can talk about this topic for ages, so I will shut up at this point. Am I for or against it? I don't know. There is too much baggage around this topic for me to be able to give a definitive answer.

I'm in favor of euthanasia as a choice in cases of incurable diseases that make people have a long, painful and degrading end of life.

Agree with it only in cases of people who are dying of a painful cancer or other terminal and painful disease, in order to avoid a long and painful death, but NOT in cases of somebody only wanting to end with his/her life because he/she feels depressed, or miserable. The second case would just be assisted suicide.

If a person is not dying for health issues, but only has some deep depression for whatever reason, or the person is in extreme poverty, everything has a solution other than ending with their life. That person just needs psychological help in case of emotional suffering, or some solution to survive and going ahead with their life, in case of extreme poverty.

The correct term is medically assisted suicide; euthanasia is some kind of euphemism.

I understand all of the arguments in favour, but these are less relevant nowadays,

because of fentanyl and other narcotics that are so powerful that the sufferer is asleep for the entire day.

So if God forbid I had some terminal illness, then I would shoot myself, or be heavily sedated at home as part of hospice care:
    a personal decision.

The government and healthcare system should NOT be involved in assisted suicide,

this is against all ethics and the Hippocratic Oath, the foundation of medicine.

Inevitably assisted suicide becomes encouraged suicide, as we are seeing in Canada.

So many assisted suicide victims are NOT terminally ill: they are poor, mentally ill, and relatively young.
Assisted suicide is now being promoted to physically healthy minors, and to an entire class of elderly people.

Perhaps anyone who is unhealthy, old and/or criticises the government may be "encouraged" to undergo assisted suicide?

Is not that complicated. Is obvious that it should only be allowed in case of a very severe physical suffering because of a terminal disease, while in all the other cases you mention is all suicidal bull shit. I find it really criminal those laws from Benelux countries (Netherlands and Belgium), or Canada allowing even young, and even healthy, people (including minors) to end their life only because they express wish to die, without even having a terminal disease. That sounds like a globalist law (and we those Benelux countries and Canada are very sunk into the anti-western and anti-white globalist shitty world order) against the citizens to quickly genocide them faster.
