Default My anthropological observations on Portuguese and Spaniards

In good old tradition, yesterday I've just returned from a 9 day long trip in a self-organized tour of Portugal and Spain, so I will share my anthropological observations.

Portuguese: the most brunet population in Europe (I haven't been in Malta, Sardinia or Balearic Islands though), same level as Anatolian Turks. 95% of individuals look pure ENF (black/dark brown hair in great majority), the rest evenly split between Aryan and indigenous CM. Med is very strongly dominant, keeping two varieties:
    - an Iberian variety common to Spaniards, present as one of founding elements of ethnic French (their Med component)
    - a local short variety with convex noses and short height (100% near-black haired haired, dark olive skin)
Skin tone is mostly dark olive, followed by light olive. In Porto people are slightly lighter and the ratio of Aryan/CM increases a bit

Spaniards: people in Galicia are visibly lighter than the Portuguese. French types are present in 10-20% of population, the rest being pure ENF: Meds and lots of Alpines. Same pattern I've noticed in Burgos (20% looked French). Local Med is only of Iberian variety: majority light olive skinned, black/dark brown hair remain in majority. Women are really really beautiful (both teens and adults): most likely the most beautiful in the world followed by the Kazakh (TikTok proved itself right with its samples). The face of Lady of Elche is everywhere: you can't get any better than that!

Overall Spaniards seem to me darker than Italians: if you compare native faces of Rome and Madrid, you will notice that easily.

Where in the Italian peninsula would you say average Iberian pigmentation is on par with? Where is there overlap in average pigmentation between Iberia and Italy?

Thanks for the report, did you notice a big difference between the Portuguese and the Spanish? i did, the Spanish are quite a bit taller, as tall as the French in most cases while the Portuguese are incredibly Short for Europe, i easily felt tall especially among older Portuguese and i am only 5'10 in American measurements. Also the Spanish seem to have more regular chisled features, the women are better looking and the cops also looked a lot more attractive both male and female. I saw a lot of Portuguese with lighter hair though, even a decent number of redheads but obviously it wouldn't be more than 3% of locals.

Why do you think that is?

It seems universally acknowledged that Gracile Med is the most attractive female phenotype.

    But why?

What do you have in mind when you say ENF looking?

Is it really considered universally attractive though? Because people here panic at the idea of being associated with Gracile Meds, preferring phenotypes more typical of northern latitudes.
I personally don't like Gracile Meds because it's a phenotype more common among low class and trashy people, more often than not of foreign origin.

Is your phenotype typical among Balearics?
I'm assuming you're the one in your avatar.

Yeah kinda, i was classified as mainly Atlantid it's a bit common here and other parts of Spain people from here Mallorca is not so different from other Iberians mostly close to the eastern Iberians basically. Still I'm not fully Mallorcan geneagolically it would be 1/16 the other is Andalusian, Basque, Aragonese, Galician, later is 1/8 English and some other thins. So I'm not the good example for how do balearics look but i can assure that Here Mallorcans look like other Spaniards more like Catalans
