Looks awesome. The meatier, the better. Do you also smoke it? My fav one it's a bit smoked.
Yes, being smoked gives them a special taste.

The haystack breakfast is what I always get at a diner:

It has fried shredded potatoes, gravy, sausage, cheese, and an egg.

A similar monstrosity is the horseshoe sandwich:

    St. Louis gooey butter cake:

The real one is made with yeast and does not include cream cheese.

    Watergate salad:

This is made entirely from heavily processed 1960s-era mixes and tinned ingredients. It's something I eat maybe once a year.

Please note that I do NOT eat like this on a regular basis. I have a BMI of 23. I've recently been lifted from the greasy pit and into a healthy Mediterranean-style diet with lots of vegetables, olive oil, fish, yogurt, and lamb, and what I eat every day is much more similar to a SEU health nut than a real midwestern US American.

My ancestors used terms slanina and panceta. Slanina is general term, even before it is dry. Panceta is part of slanina with a higher proportion of meat when dried like on your photo (panceta je krtija slanina). I used both panceta and slanina.

Nothing beats Cretan steak. Although tourists don't seem to give a shit about it.

I am a grill guy. Steak is my main deal. I have a way of roasting vegetables on the grill too. I used to do just corn on the cob, but I now mix corn with a few other things like asparagus and yes Brussels sprouts. A nice tossed salad with a balsamic vinegar dressing. Some UNsweetened iced tea to drink and maybe some fruit in season for dessert. I avoid added sugars and cut down on my bread and starches. We are having people over on Monday. My hope is that cherries will be in season. They were available by memorial day last year.
