yeah, we also have surnames such as Puljak/Pulić, which derive from the Latin word for bird

Romanian pula comes from Latin copula/copulare, and not from pullus/pulla. Sometimes even dictionaries get this serious matter wrong

We have something similar to polenta and mamaliga too. It's something between these two.

But yeah, I suppose there are a lot of corn starch dishes around Europe.

Ah, when it comes to my cuisine favorites, I can't resist the comforting embrace of pasta with ham and cheese. There's something truly magical about the way the creamy cheese melds with the savory ham, all tangled up in perfectly cooked pasta. It's like a warm hug for my taste buds, bringing together flavors that dance on the palate. Whether it's a simple carbonara or a luxurious macaroni and cheese, pasta with ham and cheese never fails to hit the spot. It's a classic combination that speaks to the heart of my culinary preferences.

    In no particular order:

    Hvalbiff (whale steak)
    Rakfisk (fermented freshwater trout)
Kjøttkaker (meatballs of minced and fried beef accompanied with mashed peas and potatoes)
    Fårikål (mutton and cabbage stew)
    Elggryte (moose stew)

Seeing a surprising amount of posts for mamaliga, it's actually pretty popular amongst all elderly people here in Greece, or at least the vast majority of people here know it.

I haven't tried to be honest, but I'd like to.
