Romanian pula comes from Latin copula/copulare, and not from pullus/pulla. Sometimes even dictionaries get this serious matter wrong

Yeh mamaliga is Romanian/Moldavian polenta. It's present in south of Ukraine too, never liked it tho. While in South of Ukraine is just known and common, in MD it's essential.

We have something similar to polenta and mamaliga too. It's something between these two.

But yeah, I suppose there are a lot of corn starch dishes around Europe.

Seeing a surprising amount of posts for mamaliga, it's actually pretty popular amongst all elderly people here in Greece, or at least the vast majority of people here know it.

I haven't tried to be honest, but I'd like to.
