The US ambassador to Pristina, Jeffrey Hovenier, announced that the United States had excluded Kosovo from the Washington-led Defender Europe military exercises because of these clashes:
“When we found out, we reacted strongly against it. The decision has had a negative impact on Kosovo’s reputation and has reversed efforts towards the normalization of relations between Kosovo and Serbia,” said Hovenier.

He quoted the US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, who said that these actions will affect US-Kosovo relations.
Hovenier said that the cancellation of Kosovo’s participation in the “Defender Europe 2023” exercises, is the first consequence for the Government of Kosovo in this regard.

“Today there was no activity for ‘Defender Europe ’23’ and there won’t be. For Kosovo, those exercises have ended,” said Hovenier.
“We have asked the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, to take steps towards reducing tensions in the north. He has not responded to these requests. We are analyzing what our next actions will be”, he added.

Looks like USA does not want another open front in Europe (Russia and China already expressed support for Serbia). Good! It’s for the best if the situation will not escalate further.

Maybe yes maybe not, but this region is a powder keg and it could explode at any time, just like always in the history. Tons of minority lives outside of the borders, not just serbs, but others too. In my opinion, we need fair borders which follow the ethnic line + Bosnia as country doesnt work, thats pretty clear.

Yes, you make a good point. Conflicts can reignite and politically, it remains a problematic region. But, at the moment, it’s good that a bigger power like USA wants a de-tension of this conflict. Given the current situation in Europe, an escalation involving NATO, Russia, China etc. would be a really bad idea.
As for how the tensions in the old “powder keg” should be solved non-violently, it’s open for debate as it is a complicated and touchy subject. I’ll refrain from giving a personal opinion this time, as I am not knowledgeable enough. For example, I don’t really know the situation of Bosnia.

That's what happens when population exchange is not properly done. There should not be minorities in the Balkans.

Well, they are looking for better life out of Kosovo for years.

Now, after visa liberalisation their migrations toward UK, Germany and other EU countries will be even more massive.
