Considering it's a first conflict with "uncivilised" enemy in modern history of Afghanistan, I feel that unlike Soviets or Yanks, Persians may just make a big massacre which is a bad scenario for them, never done by their opponents before. Later the British took over large areas from Afghans without any fighting. Although many of these areas including Peshawar were not historically Pashtun areas as they settled there during the middle ages mostly, but we will ignore that.

British just drew a line (Durand Line) on the map and those areas are now part of Pakistan. As a result there are many millions more Pashtuns now in Pakistan than in Afghanistan and they call themselves Pakistanis. Can Afghans take these areas from Pakistan?
