You are right, maybe Russia would have transformed into a Chinese type of thing. But don't put all the blame on Gorba. Also, Russia is still different than China so i don't Chinese way is Russian way. On the other hand just because Soviet Union collapsed doesn't mean many things in modern Russia are still Soviet esque, even mentally wise. Economy is different of course.

But this one was published this year and I meant specifically old Soviet editions. In RF copies of post-Soviet editions are sold too:

The point is it's usually easy to find a second hand old edition Soviet book, but in the case of this book it seems impossible and it's very strange and looks artificial. As if it didn't exist back then.
