I don't think South Germans and Swiss Germans look all that different from Italians. Northern Italy also has a German-speaking minority. Can you really tell speakers apart from phenotype? But the same probably goes for the French-speakers of Switzerland, hence the answer would most likely be both in equal measure.

Southern Germans, Coon said one of the best places to find alpines is in a Bavarian restaurant, that would suggest that southern Germany is basically a continuation of alpine France but with a bigger Nordic component, southern Italy is drastically different, far darker, far more med influenced.

Southern Italians are way too dark and southern Germans are like Central Europeans and since the divide between Northern and southern French isn't as stark as many people think I would say they're a bit closer to southern Germany than southern Italy

And of course I'm referring to the fully ethnic French people of the south, since a good portion of them these days have Italian and Spanish ancestry from hundreds of years of migration to southern France.

What you call nonsensically "hundreds of years of migration" is really that part of the Southern French are Spanish since always. They have not emigrated there, they live there since always.

Some look quite dark, and darker than Germans. They have a Med influence.

In south Italy 15% of the people look MENA ( average MENA ) and 60% ( or more ) are and look med ( In Calabria Sardinia Sicily 70% )... and "only" 10-15% look Alpine.

Nordic looking people in south Italy are few.. ( less than 5% )..

In the Alpine-Prealps regions of Italy ( 6-7 milions people are living there ) 50% of the people are and look ALPINE....and more than 15% look nordic ... others are mediterranean.

In the others areas of north Italy, alpine people are not more than 30%.. 50% are and look med...and not more than 10% are and look NORDIC.

Mena looking people in the alps-prealps area are very few.. not more than 2 % in my opinion.

    North Italy includes ALPINE REGION...

It is very difficult to meet a real germans who looks MENA ( less than 1%) while in Italy it is not difficult to meet real Italians MENA looking..

Having lived in Southern France, more peculiarly, Nîmes, I can pretty much tell that the ones I have seen were looking kind of familiar to Spaniards, probably Catalans. Having seen a lot of them, pretty likely those further from Italy (maybe beyond Marseille) can be considered physically close to some sort of Spaniards... Can't tell for southeast French though. Maybe those above the Mediterranean part would look kind of like Germans.
Race is a fluid reality, depending on the mind of the beholder... you never can be wrong about it.
