Astonishingly, Sikeliot has been gone for over four years now, having hitherto been our most prominent poster. For good and for ill, he was special in many ways:

(1) Rarely for fora like these (or real life, for that matter) he practiced a kind of "colourism in reverse", whereby he wanted to make his (chosen) ethnic group look darker than it actually is and overstate their similarities to darker-pigmented ethnic groups (principally Levantines). By contrast, most people whether on fora like these or indeed real life are either neutral/indifferent or want to make their ethnic group look lighter than it actually is (Gallop and Laredo being especially egregious cases).

(2) He took a genuine interest in the whole world and treated people(s) with respect and on their own terms.

(3) He kept the forum flowing even if/when no one else really would.
