Being partly Baltic myself and spending time with a lot of Baltic people (north eastern polish, Belarusians, Lithuanians, Latvians ) I have to kinda agree with you. I also heard that liposuction is very popular among them. Recently a new surgery technique became popular, called buccle fat removal to get rid of the big cheeks where they suck out the fat of your cheeks. A lot of Lithuanian surgeons advertise it on their website as it’s on huge demand.

Baltid types are stocky as previously said, and unfortunately prone to obesity in signficant cases.

I know Germans can get porky because of how they are built. You expect Europeans to be slender as they claim, but they are as fat as Americans are. I was just wondering if my Lithuanian blood is responsible for my weight issues.
Interesting that you attribute a particular tendency for weight gain to Germans. My half Polish school paraprofessional and babysitter said that he was so slender (20.3 BMI) in part because of his maternal German/Welsh side moderating the stocky paternal Polish influence.

Just because his maternal side was more slender than his paternal side does not mean Polish people are genetically more prone to obesity (these nations in fact all have a quite similar obesity rate near 25%). He made a rather brash generalization there. In truth there is currently no study indicating that the moderate variation in European obesity rates is primarily genetic in basis. In Africa by contrast there are populations with extreme skewed somotype distribution like Nilotes whose typically lanky build is the result of genetic rather than cultural factors.

Lithuanians have a diet excessively high in red meat and dairy (1025% and 433% of recommend intake respectively according to Global Nutrition Report) even by American standards (255% and 205% of recommend intake respectively by same source) and with a relatively limited consumption of fruits and vegetables. Since the 1990s there has also been a trend of reduced physical activity. Don't discount cultural factors.

Usually obesity is not considered beautiful. I guess maybe the Lithuanian women are buxom and curvy.

I would avoid BMI for accuracy. It doesn't measure body fat.

There is only ample national data for BMI which is still substantially correlated with body fat proportion. it is reasonably accurate for for individuals of low to moderate muscle tone. More direct methods like hydrostatic weighing are much more expensive.

Asians and Pacific Islanders tend to have a greater body fat percent at a given BMI than Europeans. West Africans on the other hand tend to have a lower body fat percent a given BMI than Europeans. As long as only natives are considered comparing obesity in different European countries using a 30 kg/m2 cutoff should be fair.

The problem is that it isn't correlated with actual fat percentage. It's an antiquated formula that only works for people 5 ft tall. All BMI does is measure your weight x height. The taller you are from 5 ft, the less accurate it is . BMI doesn't measure body fat, nor does it even measure male vs female.

Lithuanians, especially young, are certainly not obese. Stop blaming Lithuanians, Germans or whoever for your fatness and do something about it instead.

My former muse. Attacking mentally retarded people is a bad occupation. Better take care of yourself, I'm interested not only in history and genetics, but also psychology. The guy you give advice to has fewer problems than you) he's happy, don't bother him
