Default Are most people brainwashed to like certain kinds of music?

In most public spaces, the same songs get rotated over and over and over and people are exposed to it , it grows on their brain. People argue that most would not be into my music genre. That's because I am obscure. Music is not popular by design, it is popular because that's all people hear and they feel the need to listen to what everybody else listens to. This herd mentality, but it does seem that most people will seek out familiarity and music they are familiar with, rather than anything novel.

It seems like a way to program people into thinking bands like the Beatles were actually "good" because all the hype surrounding them. When they could barely sing or play instruments and their songs were rather banal.
Elvis Presley, would be an exception to this rule, but a talent like his only comes around once in a lifetime.

Keep telling yourself that the Beatles were no big deal even though fifty years after they broke up, their songs are still impacting popular culture. Have you ever thought that the problem is you cannot listen to music objectively without letting your biases creep in?

On a related side note, You started a thread entitled "Why won't my talent ever be recognized?". That thread gave several answers to that question.

You closed it with "I make music that I LIKE, and if people don't like it , too bad."

It is fantastic that you took the answers to the question to heart.
If you had that "too bad" opinion before that, you would have never start that thread in the first place.

Objectively, the Beetles were not really that great. But Im just using an example. It seems the music industry bombards us with certain artists to trick and fool us into thinking a certain kind of music or songs are more worthy than others. But in reality they aren't, its all an illusion.

I personally don't like the beatles music, but I can't deny they were good in what they did.

Just stop. You have been bashing on The "Beetles" for years. Like it or not, they were one of the most influential bands in the history of recorded music. It isn't hard to hear why if you spent some time with their music post The Ed Sullivan Show.

You angrily dumped a few replies and then closed that other thread.

I will answer here. I don't call myself a musician, but I would put my understanding and knowledge of music up against yours. The fact you dismiss the "Beetles" outright shows this to be true.

If you wanted to argue the "Beetles" were overrated, I would agree with that. But looking at their amazing song catalog and the number of real musicians who cite them as influences, it is hard to dismiss them like they were Hermit's Hermits

I grew up on Stravinsky, and I always thought "les noces" was original and groundbreaking

Until I heard the folksongs Stravinsky was inspired by.

music in general has undergone a massive change within the last century. even considering western classical music things such as temperament, modes etc. sad to say that the majority of music today is more or less marketing. fortunately though, traditions did not get lost. with a wide variety it more or less revolves around taste. within some genres of western music the change is subtle, just some example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ub9L...=HermodeTuning
