My music has an endearing interesting quality, and it has personality and it's still worth something. I'm not an amateur , I'm a professional.

A thing is defined by its properties. Your music videos and the frequency of your paid gigs show off your level of professionalism.

I agree, your music does have an audience, you just haven’t found them solidly yet. The Gospel Fest and recent gigs are on the right track. Accept that you aren’t going to be in the top 40 because you aren’t an overproduced autotuned drum machined dance artist and work on building up a network of local venues and fans who like what you do. You may be behind the times, but given the times we’re in that’s not something to be ashamed of.

"Robert Johnson sold his soul to the devil at the crossroads one moonlit night, because he was a much better blues guitar player after he returned from his long absence." Uh, maybe he just practiced a lot when he was gone, but that would make for a boring story.

There were earlier examples. The violinist Paganini is the first one that comes to mind. Unfortunately, he died in the middle of the 19th century so there were no recordings.

The level of quality of soloists has increased since recordings have been made. The number of them has increased as well. I'm just curious how the virtuosi of today stack up to him. I bet the best ones of today outshine him.

I read about that. I thought that the devil supposedly appeared to him in his dreams, but maybe he ate some bad calamari before bedtime. You would likely enjoy reading "Hellhounds On Their Trail" by R. Gary Patterson (rest his soul). He mentions Pag and Rob, as well as 27 Club members and other children of the darned.
