There is a big overlap between Poles, Belorussians and many Russian gruops.




This is an illusory proximity to mentioned groups due to the wider range of the Polish genome.

[G25 cslculator shows: Southwest Finns can be substituted by Kashubian Poles and North Russians] I have found it like Southwest Finns are Balto-Slavs with minor Siberian and Germanic admixtures. Iron Age Gotlanders had similar Balto-Slavic influence. Looks like the Baltic Sea was a Balto-Slavic sea before the Hansa.

Except for that IA Gotland had a true Balto-Slavic input, all these findings are not real but the result of a deficiency in distinguishing capability. All Eurogenes calculators including G25, except for K36, can not distinguish between a continantal Germanc-Slavic mixture and Swedish with some Finnish.

In G25 my Northern German and fully haling from Western Mecklenburg wife, that has 71% Germanic and 29% proto Slavic gets predominantly Sweden. And I as an Eastern German do get Northern Sweden and SW Finland at low distances in some Eurogenes calculators. Here are the closest modern individuals in G25 to me and my wife:

Nothing of this shows up in K36, obviously due to the Fennoscandian component, that makes visible the differences. I add the LM Genetics correlation maps that are based on K36. The maps show a highest correlation with regions that are in line with the known ancestry (and then essentially showing a cline in various directions as could be expected).

My test using individual coordinates shows me essentially closer Southwest Finnish distances than average coordinates. I guess that this effect is caused by the heterogeneity of SW Finnish samples or outliers. Only 2-3% more Siberian in some samples increases drastically the distance, because Siberians are genetically distant people. Getting 3% any European admixture has only a small effect, but the same amount Siberian/East Asian drags you far away on PCA coordinates. The data should be cropped weighting the center of each population before making averages. This is not "must" in Central Europe, but necessary on the fringes.
