He's not related to Ukraine as something Ukrainian, probably some of his Jewish ancestors lived there behind the Pale of Settlement in Russian empire

I don't think that it is possible to tie everybody from "Soviet aristocracy" to Jews, exotic options without Jewishness are quite possible: an Estonian communist great-grandmother, a Turkmen great-grandfather, another Russian great-grandfather, but from an exotic group of Protestants
