It does tho, because countries that need it the most are the ones with biggest exports, no taxes, no customs, easier to get EU buyers, but since we are not big exporters, we dont really need it, but its great, because its easier to do business in general.

What's the problem to have an ID and pass through the border? I think having controlled border is one of definitions of sovereignty for any state. Sure it should not be regular passport with stamps, but an ID card for EU interstate travellings, at least.

well, open borders remove lots of bureaucracy, and ID cards can bee easly forged, so its kind of a moot point, you need to go full in.

It was to make Europe more simmilar to US or Russia, get rid of small economies, and make one big European one.

With open borders you just need to enter any EU state someway, reach some Belgian, French or any other ethnic ghetto and stay there forever.
