Even more fake than China's economic data.

.. one thing I always found interesting, no matter what your opinion is on this "sports-entertainment" called pro-wrestling , is to research how certain wrestlers got their gimmicks / stage-names..

I already said in the Hogan-thread that Bollea ( his real last name ) got his name / gimmick from an allusion to 'The Incredible Hulk '- character combined with McMahon Sr. wanting him to appear as an Irish-American.. 'Hulk' 'Hogan '

'The Undertaker ' ( Mark Calaway) filled the spot of Vince Jr. always having had the vision of one of his performers getting the image of an 'Old Western- style Undertaker ' with a long coat and a hat.

'Lex Luger', one of the best built guys in wrestling, gotta say ( he appeared like a bodybuilder-deluxe), got his name from an idea he himself had about wanting to use a name similar to the fict. character 'Magnum', just making the gun-brand German.... - - - - > 'Luger'.. after that was there he added 'Lex'.. another allusion, to 'Lex Luthor'....

A guy called Sid Eudy named himself after the dead punk-rocker 'Sid Vicious'... When he changed leagues, that became 'Sid Justice' though..

.. . yeah, friends.. this is entertainment..

Do the audience members actually take it seriously? I can't tell if they are really serious or just larping. Like anything commercial it's for entertainment and it's mostly fake. I think the wrestlers themselves are wannabe actors. I can't get into it. I am opposed to men and women wrestling each other .

a ) as Calaway said in that Kuwaiti interview I posted, indeed, so called pro- wrestling is an athletic endeavor, even if they do not believe all the action..
b ) .. in a way, gotta quote Calaway again, the hyped up characters in wrestling is also what many people come to see....

.. heehee, no offense to you personally, but, if I had gotten 5 € for each time somebody yells "It's fake..",I'd probably be rich now..

Yup.. indeed they are.... Ask no other than this guy..

.. goes by the name of 'Hollywood Hogan '..

.. his home is indeed in Hollywood..

    ..

    Just kiddin', dude...

I think you might be right.. some wrestlers come close to actors..

    I can't get into it.
    .. freedom of opinion..

I'm opposed to men and women wrestling each other .
    .. are you sure.. ?

.. ya know.. the bed is the ring.. and you "have to have your adversary lying under you and press your adversary to the mat.. "

.. hmmm .. correct me if I'm wrong but.. have we heard this before..?..

Btw.. since the word 'fake ' may be tough to some people.. would it be different if we said "it's just a performance " ?

Gotta be honest , there are many things which at all times pointed to so called ' pro-wrestling ' being a show..

As I already said , the fact that, if some moves were executed for real , some matches would only be on for about 5 minutes and that wrestlers probably would have to take a break for months after some maneuvers..

.. another aspect would be that, if the fights were real, probably only people with the same measurements would be chosen to face each other, in other words no ' Hulk Hogan vs Andre The Giant ' shows maybe..

The fact that relatively small people are often scheduled to face giants in wrestling is maybe another dramatisation of this showbiz.. Some kind of 'David vs Goliath ' drama .

There is a docu available online about wrestler Lou Albano once failing a lie-detector test when asked if wrestling is real..

Haha, such accidents may not be the best publicity but tbh, why would Albano let himself be wired to a lie-detector when he could have known the result may not have been what he hoped for..

Where do you stand on so- called 'pro-wrestling'?

It is my understanding that what we see there is a combination between martial arts, kickboxing and mat-wrestling combined to some kind of stunt- show.. tbh..

    Plus . . the storylines..

Yeah ,I know, many people say "It's fake...it's no sport.." etc etc....

What's your own personal opinion ? Be honest . .

I'm sure people who like it won't be so offended by anti- arguments that they will throw you into that ring a piledrive you to hell

Sorry, mate, but you can call me a snob, if you like, but it is an example of inferior American low-brow rubbish culture.
    So . .
