He's in terrible health now but he has had an amazing life. He's not someone who tolerates BS and is completely himself. He's got a lot of respect from other musicians and artists.

Ireland is to Iberia as Estonia is to Southern Balkan peninsula.

Basically both Western European "genetics" but Ireland Northern one and Iberia southern one.

Summarizing if we are trying to determine the "westerness Versus the Easterneess":

-British isles &Scandinavia ---confront to and/or complement in "Westerness"---Northern Spaniards&Basques&peri-Basques&Southern/Western Spanish/Portugueses
-Baltics&Northern Slavs----confront to and/or complement in "Easterness"----Albanian/Macedonian&Greeks. (no to former Yugoeslavian people because they have a clear direct Slavic input from early medieval migrations).

Do we look alike? Sometimes we could have "some "air of famliy", but usually ...we don´t.

Probably all this attempt to link the Irish with Spanish comes from the English. We are both Catholics, the typical Irish character was described as a bit chaotic, moved by feelings, etc. A way of relating them to something they considered negative.

And then certain cultural coincidences between Galicia and Ireland that really exist but that do not imply a relationship of genetic proximity or physical appearance.

Apart from that, in Spain we have always liked Ireland and the Irish, at the same time that there is a hatred and contempt for the English.

Spaniards do not usually speak or criticize foreigners but Ireland leaves them somewhat neutral, almost like the Balkans that neither fu nor fa, we have received much more musical culture, literary, cinema e.t.c . from England and we have a more vivid perception of England.
not to mention the history, of which there is a lot. France, Italy much more, Germany as Germany not because of its culture or language much less its gastronomy but as Germany simply.

At the moment I feel much more interested in the south of England than in Ireland largely because of some forum members of Irish origin who were not even born or live in Ireland.

Even though Ireland is farther north they look so much like we Spanish. So many similar phenotypes. I don't care what genetic tests say we look similar.
