That's insane. Even in early 1100, elaborated wooden houses in London started to get replaced by concrete constructions, stone-tile houses with open sewers and conduits and you are talking about straw huts in 1400-1600...
You don't even realize you are trolling yourself with post Roman London, like everybody would have devolved back to the Bronze Age.



Besides paintings you have ancient inner town maps and registered blueprints to rely on which are more certain. Paris has been reconstructed in 3D (15 years old 3D now) from city map datas and building blueprints of 1369 and even at this time it's already concrete of course, that would be very weird for places like Paris or London. The Notre-Dame cathedral's construction started in 1163.




The real evidence of architectural growth spurt in Western Europe around that time is the population that was stable since JC then exploded, the cities expanded exponentially (leading to plagues for instance) but they were there before already. You had well developped core centers and universities pretty much everywhere in the West by 1400, as well as central Europe to some extent, so im not sure what you are trying to prove with paintings of Venice in 1450. It's not extraordinary or uncommon for the time, it just follows that same historical axe of developpement and its direct surrounding, it always existed and way before that, the earliest universities in late 1000 were Bologna, Cambridge, Paris, Oxford...same thing
