Gen Z Can't Handle Metal

Apparently the younger generation can't get into metal... Recently, the REACT channel had some kids from Gen Z check out Slipknot, and recently on Twitch, we checked it out to see how they handled it...

I guess that's what was told about boomers in the 70s, when true men listened to real music which was jazz and rockabilly

Not really different from the usual reactions I`ve seen from people 15 - 20 years ago. Metal as a counterculture was never intended to appeal to the masses in the first place.
Second, that creator of the video can hardly be counted as representative of the Metal scene, types like him usually are those, who`d go on a rant how tolerant and inclusive the "metal family" is, but at the same time threatens to call the cops on you for wearing a Burzum shirt.
Last but not least I still frequent a lot of concerts if time allows it, most of them lesser known acts, yet I still always see quite a lot of younger folks showing up too. One thing I`ve noticed with a heavy heart though is, that none of the young un`s seem to want to at least try to grow their hair out at least once. That may be the only real gen z attitude I see, the impatience.

It's not about liking it, but handling it. I have friends who never liked metal, they listened to some other sorts of aggressive music (among all).

Modern day popular artists sound like castrates, Vienna Boy's Choir has more power in their voices than an average male singer from Billboard Top 100 Chart, you can't even recognize who is who.
And auto-tune is the biggest shit that happened to music industry in the past century.

I think the Swedish pop singer Zara Larsson was wearing a Burzum shirt on one occasion. That drew attention.

Other than that, it seems that subcultures are really no longer a thing among young people.
