I'd go with AMD personally, but make sure you have a good heatsink or cooler on the chip. They seem to run hot (AMD chipsets always have) but are stable nonetheless.

Yes that’s a good decision. But I wouldn’t go for the Ryzen 5 but better go for Ryzen 9. And if you can afford it take the 5950x version and if you want it slightly less budget then 5900x with 12 cores instead of 16. Both are very high end for current standards. That is why I bought it

I have a 5700X it's pretty good, no complaints, and it's a low tdp chip so no heat issues.
