It is not necessarily about being 'cool' rather anyone with two brain cells to rub together knows the French and British or so-called 'Anglo-Saxon' cultures are the only two choices , on the menu, for the main model of Western civilization. I choose English culture over frog culture.

In reality in the strictest, original sense, it used to refer to the Welsh only. Later on, when the prospect of retaking the entirety of Britain from the other interlopers (Scots and Anglos) became an impossible utopia, these would remake themselves as "Cambrians/Cymry".

I have a lot of British ancestors. Mine were knights and cavaliers in Virginia.

Imo, Walloons are the coolest ethnicity. They remind me of the feral Atlantic islander in NZ.
