young generation(fortunately, not all of them) tend to leave the villages and move to the urban areas inside and nearby the region, and far away from it in order to pursue a "better" life nowadays.. elderly people live the rest of their lives in the villages, and i truly hope the young people come back to the natural life

Are Ossetians as partial descendants of Alans, significantly lighter than other North Caucasians?

ossetians are descendants of both indigenous caucasus folk like dvals, ancient nakh folks, tsanars and alans.. phenotypically there is no significant difference between ossetians, chechens and avars, since all of them are caucasids/mtebid of central cluster
there are caucasids of dagestani cluster and caucasids of southern cluster (kartvelians) as well

Are Ossetians as partial descendants of Alans, significantly lighter than other North Caucasians?

They are dominated by typical Caucasian haplogroups G2a1. Anthropologically, they are different like all Northern Caucasians - Mtebids, Pontides, Armenoids.
As for pigmentation, I would not say that they are lighter than others. According to anthropological research, they have something like this:
Eye pigmentation.
Ossetians:
1) Irafian 12.8% light, 63.7% mixed, 23.5 dark
2) Giseldonian 15% light, 60% mixed, 25% dark
3) Java 8 dark, 67 mixed, 25 dark
4) Tskhinvali 13.7 light, 74.1 mixed, 12.2 dark
