It strange, but lightest Georgians are lowlanders, not mountaineers. Lightest people in Caucasus according to anthropologist Abdushelishvili live in the inner parts of Colchis Lowland in Western Georgia. This people had less contacts with neighbors. Svans and Rachians who live in mountains are darker than Imeretians and Megrels.
Due to isolation this part of Georgia is very different from other Caucasians. The culture, architecture, lifestyle, for example there is no Lezginka/Caucasian style dances in Imereti like we have in Eastern Georgia, or in mountains.
This are textbook Imeretians.
Climate in west Georgia is very rainy, the rainiest in whole former USSR and maybe in whole Europe. But i don't think this is the main reason of paleness, rather isolation.
